Methods From July to December 2020, a total of 323 family caregivers of patients with heart failure in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University, South China Hospital Affiliated to South China University, and Hengyang Central Hospital were selected as the research objects by convenience sampling. The survey was conducted using the general information inventory, the mishel uncertainty in illness scale for family member, the Herth hope index, and the caregiver preparedness scale. The correlation and mediating effect of disease uncertainty, hope level, and caregiver readiness were analyzed. Results The family caregivers of heart failure patients had an uncertainty score of (86.07±10.35) points, a hope level score of (35.13±4.01) points, and a caregiver readiness score of (21.45±5.09) points. Correlation analysis showed that caregiver readiness was negatively correlated with disease uncertainty (r = -0.480, P < 0.01); caregiver readiness was positively correlated with hope level (r = 0.419, P < 0.01); disease uncertainty was negatively correlated with hope level (r = -0.433, P < 0.01). Bootstrap test verified the mediating effect of hope level between disease uncertainty and caregiver readiness (β = -0.055, P < 0.01), and the mediating effect accounted for 23.31% of the total effect. Conclusion The level of caregiver hope of family members of patients with heart failure partially mediates the relationship between disease uncertainty and caregiver readiness.
