Abstract Esophageal cancer is a common malignant tumor all over the world. Due to the lack of specific tumor markers for esophageal cancer, it is difficult to timely and effectively monitor the occurrence and development of tumor, the occurrence of drug resistance and the effective evaluation of prognosis, resulting in poor clinical treatment effect. Many studies have shown that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is a functional genomic element, which can play roles at multiple levels. In recent years, a variety of lncRNA have been found to be abnormally expressed in esophageal cancer. These abnormally expressed lncRNA can promote or inhibit cancer in the occurrence and development of esophageal cancer, and are closely related to drug resistance and prognosis of esophageal cancer. lncRNA is expected to become new biological targets for diagnosis or treatment.
