Abstract Acute-on-chronic liver failure is a common severe liver disease in our country, with high clinical mortality. Through many years of clinical practice, according to the Chinese and western pathogenesis of acute-on-chronic liver failure, Professor Li Yong adopts comprehensive treatment method of integrated Chinese and western medicine, takes advantage of curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine, treats disease based on syndrome differentiation according to the characteristics of pathogenesis, and takes therapy of combination of disease and syndrome according to different pathological stages. He also uses modern artificial liver technology, pays attention to etiological treatment, nursing of living and diet, emphasizes early diagnosis, early treatment and active prevention for all kinds of complications, which has significant clinical effect and greatly reduce the mortality of patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure.
