Abstract This article aimed at describing the current situation of the needs of assistive products for person with disability in institutional care of the elderly, and explaining current situation of the development of it from political, economic, social and technological aspects. Our country should further strengthen the combination of assistive products for person with disability and aging industry. Differentiated management of pension institutions should be promoted and the long-term care insurance system should be improved. Meanwhile, the“medicine-care-rehabilitation-research-application” institutions for mid/high-spending groups should be established on the basis of the need of older citizens. The nursing staff training system should be improved, and the combination of internet +, pension institutions and assistive products for person with disability should be strengthen. This article is expected to provide reference for the further development of assistive products for person with disability in institutional care of the elderly.
