Effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with ultrasound-guided microwave ablation in the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma |

Abstract Objective To analyze the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with ultrasound guided microwave ablation in the treatment of primary liver cancer. Methods 98 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma treated in Dalian Central Hospital from January 2014 to December 2016 were selected as the study subjects. According to different treatment methods, patients were divided into observation group (50 cases) and control group (48 cases). The patients in the control group were treated with hepatic artery chemoembolization, and the patients in the observation group were treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with ultrasound guided microwave ablation. The treatment outcomes was compared between the two groups; before treatment and 3 months after treatment, the levels of alpha fetal protein (AFP), glutamate aminotransferase (ALT) and glutamate transaminase (AST) of the patients in the two groups were tested; the adverse reactions in the two groups during and after treatment were observed. Results The total effective rate and disease control rate in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P < 0.05); after treatment, levels of AFP, ALT and AST of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). During treatment complications such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, bone marrow suppression, fever, and pain happened in both groups, while the incidence of complications in the two group was not statistically different (P > 0.05). Conclusion Compared with hepatic artery embolization chemotherapy alone, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablation therapy can provide obvious therapeutic effect, and do not increase the occurrence of adverse reactions, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
