Abstract  Objective To investigate the effect of Minocycline Hydrochloride Ointment combined with Tinidazole on the oxidative stress response and level of inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid in patients with chronic periodontitis. Methods A total of 120 patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to Staff Hospital of Luoyang North Enterprise Group Co., LTD from May 2017 to May 2020 were selected and divided into treatment group and control group by random number table method, with 60 patients in each group. The control group was given Tinidazole Tablets, and the treatment group was given Minocycline Hydrochloride Ointment on this basis. Both groups were treated for two months. The efficacy, and the periodontal index, oxidative stress index, gingival crevicular fluid inflammatory factor level before and after treatment and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in treatment group was higher than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, periodontal pocket depth, plaque index, gingival index, serum malondialdehyde, gingival crevicular fluid monocyte chemotactic protein-1, matrix metalloproteinase-8, and interleukin-6 levels were all lower than those before treatment, while serum glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were all higher than those before treatment, and periodontal pocket depth, dental plaque index, gingival index, serum malondialdehyde, gingiva crevicular fluid monocyte chemotactic protein 1, matrix metalloproteinases-8, and interleukin-6 levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, serum glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Minocycline Hydrochloride Ointment combined with Tinidazole can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress response in patients with chronic periodontitis, improve periodontal index, improve curative effect, and have good safety.
