Abstract Inflammation plays an important role in the occurrence and development of various cancers. Inflammatory markers have the characteristics of low cost, stable results and convenience, which have been widely used in lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and other malignant tumors to predict the prognosis of patients. Inflammation markers have been a hot spot in cancer research in recent years. However, there are relatively few studies on inflammatory markers in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and the conclusions are different. Therefore, this article reviews the widely studied inflammatory markers, such as neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, as well as the recent development of emerging inflammatory markers such as systemic immune inflammation index, systemic inflammation response index, prognostic nutritional index, Glasgow prognostic score and C-reactive protein/albumin ratio in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. It aims to supplement the traditional prognostic factors of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and help to provide better personalized treatment plans for cancer patients.
