Preliminary exploration of applying digital technology to case analysis teaching in education of orthodontic graduate students |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of applying 3D digital technology in the case analysis teaching for department of orthodontic graduate students. Methods A total of 40 third-grade postgraduate students in Stomatology Hospital of Fourth Military Medical University from October 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects. A total of 20 graduate students of 2017 class were selected as the experimental group, and 20 graduate students of the 2017 class were selected as the control group. Seminar case analysis teaching was used in the control group, while Seminar combined with 3D digital technology was used in the experimental group. The teaching effect was evaluated by questionnaire and the orthodontic test. Results The teaching methods of the experimental group were better evaluated, and the case analysis part and total scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, with statisticahtly significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of 3D digital technology in Seminar case analysis teaching can significantly improve the teaching effect of orthodontic case analysis, stimulate students’ interest in learning and spirit of exploration, and improve students’ comprehensive ability of clinical diagnosis and analysis, which is worthy of further promotion and exploration.
