Effect of median nerve electrical stimulation combined with computer-assisted cognitive training in the treatment of post-stroke cognitive dysfunction |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of median nerve electrical stimulation combined with computer-assisted cognitive training in the treatment of post-stroke cognitive dysfunction. Methods A total of 94 patients with post-stroke cognitive dysfunction admitted to the First People’s Hospital of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province from June 2017 to May 2020 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into control group (47 cases) and observation group (47 cases) according to random number table method. The control group was treated with computer-assisted cognitive training, and the observation group was treated with median nerve electrical stimulation based on the control group. The treatment time of both groups was six weeks. The cognitive function of the two groups was observed before and after treatment, the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared, and the changes of oxygenated hemoglobin concentration in the brain area before and after median nerve electrical stimulation were compared in the observation group. Results After treatment, the scores of Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA) scale in two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). There was statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the oxygenated hemoglobin concentration of left motor area and right motor area in the observation group before and after electrical stimulation (P > 0.05). The oxygenated hemoglobin concentration in left and right forehead of the observation group after electrical stimulation was higher than that before electrical stimulation, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Median nerve electrical stimulation combined with computer-assisted cognitive training in the treatment of patients with post-stroke cognitive dysfunction has a significant effect, which can improve the cognitive function of patients, and electrical stimulation can increase the oxygenated hemoglobin concentration in the bilateral forehead regions of patients.
