Influencing factors of shivering during recovery period in patients with transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia |

Abstract Objective To observe the influencing factors of shivering during recovery period in patients with transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia. Methods The data of 112 patients undergoing transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia in West China Hospital, Sichuan University from January 2019 to October 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the occurrence of shivering of patients during recovery period, patients were divided into occurrence group (18 cases) and non-occurrence group (94 cases). The general data of the two groups were compared, and the influencing factors of the occurrence of shivering during recovery period were found by single and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results There were statistically significant differences in body mass index, operation time, pain degree, and postoperative body temperature between the two groups (P < 0.05). Single and multiple logistic regression analysis showed that moderate to severe pain, postoperative body temperature < 36℃ and long operation time were independent risk factors for the occurrence of shivering during recovery period in patients with transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia (OR = 15.439, 10.846, 1.172, P < 0.05). High body mass index was a protective factor for the occurrence of shivering during recovery period in patients with transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia (OR = 0.749, P < 0.05). Conclusion Body mass index, pain, postoperative temperature, and operation time are the influential factors for the occurrence of shivering during recovery period in patients with transurethral enucleation of prostate under general anesthesia.
