Abstract Objective To evaluate the application effects of virtual reality technology in the teaching of practical training on basic Nursing. Methods The CNKI full-text database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China Scientific and Technical Journal Database, Wanfang database, Cochrane Library, JBI Library, and PubMed for randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies on basic nursing practice teaching using virtual simulation technology were searched. The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to March 2020. After the methodological quality evaluation of the included literatures, RevMan 5.3 software was used for data consolidation and analysis. Results A total of 15 papers were included. Among them, three papers were randomized controlled experiments and others were experimental researches. The systematic review showed that VR technology was helpful to improve several practical skills, nasal feeding skill and tracheotomy nursing. But the influence of VR teaching on venipuncture related skills was inconsistent. For the student satisfaction, the results of each study were inconsistent, and there was no unified conclusion. Conclusion The teaching effects of technology are related to the course contents. Thus, more high-quality evidence is still needed to prove its exact effect.
