Efficacy comparison of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy cornbined with afterloading intracavitary radiotherapy respecfively in treating advanced cervical cancer |

Abstract Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy after the afterloading intracavitary radiotherapy for advanced cervical cancer. Methods 80 patients with advanced cervical cancer in Xingtai People′s Hospital from April 2013 to April 2015 were selected. According to the different treatment methods, all the patients were divided into control group and observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy + afterloading intracavitary radiotherapy, while the observation group was treated by intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) + afterloading intracavitary radiotherapy. The short term effect, toxic and side effect and local recurrent rate, distant metastasis rate, overall survival after 2 years between two groups were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the short term effect (P > 0.05). The blood elephant abnormal, digestive tract injury and urinary system injury in the the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with highly statistically significant difference (P < 0.01). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the 2 years local recurrence, distant metastasis rate, survival rate of disease progression and overall survival rates (P > 0.05). Conclusion There was no significant difference between the effect of radiotherapy and the long-term survival rate and the three dimensional conformal radiotherapy, but the incidence of toxicity was lower and the safety was higher.
