Abstract Objective To explore the effect of low frequency repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with group psychotherapy in the treatment of adolescence patients with migraine. Methods A total of 60 adolescent migraine patients with Toronto alexithymia scale (TAS-20) score ≥52 points admitted to Shijiazhuang People’s Hospital from October 2017 to February 2019 were selected as the study subjects. According to random number table method, they were divided into control group (30 cases) and combined group (30 cases). Both groups received four weeks of low frequency repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation, while the combined group received group psychotherapy at the same time. The changes of repeatable battery for the assessment of neuropsychological status (RBANS), visual analogue scale (VAS), Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA), Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), and TAS-20 scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the RBANS scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the combined group was higher than that in control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of VAS, HAMA, HAMD, and TAS-20 in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the combined group was lower than the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion Low frequency repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with group psychotherapy can effectively improve the cognitive function, anxiety, depression, and alexithymia levels of adolescent migraine patients, and further improve migraine symptoms.
