Efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided vacuum assisted breast biopsy in the treatment of benign breast tumors |

Abstract Objective To research the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided vacuum assisted breast biopsy (VABB) in the treatment of benign breast tumors. Methods A total of 118 patients with benign breast tumors who underwent surgical treatment in the Maanshan Shiqiye Hospital, Anhui Province from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected as the research subjects, they were divided into observation group (67 cases) and control group (51 cases) according to different surgical methods. Patients in the observation group were treated with ultrasound-guided VABB, and patients in the control group were treated with open surgery. Operation-related indexes, postoperative complications, breast deformity, residual mass and recurrence were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, wound healing time and hospitalization time of observation group were shorter than those of control group (P < 0.05). The amount of intraoperative blood loss was less than that of control group (P < 0.05). 24 h postoperative pain score was lower than that of control group (P < 0.05). The length of purpura marks was shorter than that of control group (P < 0.05). The total incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The rate of breast deformity in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). No residual mass and in situ recurrence were observed in the observation group. Conclusion Compared with open surgery, ultrasound-guided VABB in the treatment of benign breast tumor has shorter operation time, less surgical trauma, faster postoperative recovery, fewer postoperative complications, and less impact on the appearance of the breast, which is worthy of active promotion in clinical practice.
