Enlightenment and reference from the standardized training model of American urology residents |

Abstract Standardized training of residents is a necessary way for medical students to grow into a qualified clinician after graduation. The United States has formed a mature standardized training system for residents in urology, and the standardized training of urology residents in my country is still in its infancy. This article compares in detail the differences in education systems, training methods, and assessments of the Chinese and American urology training models, and puts forward suggestions for improvement of the urology training work in China, including strengthening the regular assessment and evaluation of training bases, building a unified and standardized residential training evaluation system, highlighting the step-wise training of resident doctors’ clinical ability, and cultivating their self-expanding learning ability.
