Application effect of WeChat-led follow-up management in patients with epilepsy after craniocerebral surgery

Abstract  Objective To explore the effect of WeChat-led follow-up management on self-care ability and quality of life of patients with epilepsy after craniocerebral surgery. Methods A total of 92 patients with epilepsy after craniocerebral surgery admitted to the Affiliated Kangning Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from January 2017 to December 2017 were selected, they were divided into treatment group and control group according to random number table method, with 46 cases in each group. The control group was given regular guidance and follow-up, and the treatment group combined with follow-up management based on WeChat, the self-care ability, poor prognosis and quality of life were compared between the two groups follow up for six months. Results The treatment group included 45 cases, and the control group actually included 41 cases. Follow-up for six months, the self-care ability scores of the two groups were significantly higher than those of the same group at discharge (P < 0.05). The health knowledge level, self-concept, self-responsibility, and self-care skills scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05), there was no statistically significant difference in the poor prognosis between the two groups (P > 0.05), the quality of life scores of the two groups were significantly higher than those of the same group before discharge (P < 0.05), the worrying about seizures, emotional health, cognitive function, and life satisfaction scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Follow-up management based on WeChat is helpful to promote the development of self-care ability of patients with epilepsy after craniocerebral surgery and improve the quality of life.
