Application of Teach-back health education of emotion ABC theory in the treatment of patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding |

Abstract Objective To explore the application of Teach-back health education of emotion ABC theory in the treatment of patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Methods A total of 200 patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding admitted to Yantai Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical University from March 2019 to September 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to random number table method, they were divided into control group (routine health education) and observation group (Teach-back health education of emotional ABC theory), with 100 patients in each group. The status of health knowledge awareness of the two groups was observed five days after admission. Mental health status score and Rockall score at admission and discharge were observed in the two groups. The comfort status of the two groups were observed at discharge. Results After five days of admission, the total awareness rate of health knowledge in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). At discharge, the mental health status score and Rockall score of the two groups were lower than those at admission, and the observation group were lower than the control group, the differences were all statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The comfort level of the observation group was higher than that of the control group at discharge, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of Teach-back health education of emotional ABC theory in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding can improve the total awareness rate of health knowledge of patients, increase the mental health status and condition, and improve the total comfort level of patients, which is worthy of clinical application.
