Abstract Surgically-induced brain injury (SBI) refers to the healthy brain surrounding the surgical lesion suffers inevitable brain injury due to various factors such as the cutting and retraction of the brain tissue by surgical instruments, and intraoperative bleeding during the implementation of neurosurgery. This special brain injury is one of the important factors affecting the prognosis of surgery which will cause secondary lesions such as brain edema, cerebral hemorrhage and neuronal death. In recent years, basic research on SBI has made some progress. In this paper, the construction methods of SBI animal models, related molecular mechanisms and treatment methods are review, in order to provide the basis for exploring the pathogenesis of SBI and provide reference for the application and development of clinical treatment methods.
