Research progress on the relationship between iron and thyroid diseases |

Abstract Thyroid gland is an important endocrine gland in human body, and its synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones are of great significance for cell proliferation and differentiation, metabolism, growth and development of the body. With the improvement of living standard and the increase of work pressure, the prevalence of thyroid diseases is increasing year by year. As an essential trace element, iron plays an important role in the stability of physiological function of the body and is closely related to the synthesis and metabolism of thyroid hormone. Both iron deficiency and overload can affect thyroid function. This paper briefly reviewed the research progress of iron and thyroid diseases, in order to expand the ideas for the clinical treatment of thyroid diseases.
