Detection of serum interleukin and immunoglobulin levels in patients with esophageal cancer and its clinical significance |

Abstract Objective To investigate the expression levels of serum interleukin (IL) and immunoglobulin in patients with esophageal cancer and its clinical significance. Methods A total of 150 patients with esophageal cancer admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from January 2016 to December 2018 were selected as esophageal cancer group. A total of 130 healthy subjects were selected as control group as the same period. The expression levels of IL-6, IL-10, IL-18, IgG, IgA and IgM were compared between two groups. At the same time, the expression levels of IL-6, IL-10, IL-18, IgG, IgA and IgM in esophageal cancer patients with different stages and metastasis or non-metastatic were compared. Results The levels of IL-6, IL-18 and IgA in esophageal cancer group were higher than those in control group, and the level of IL-10 was lower than that in control group (all P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in IgG and IgM levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). The levels of IL-6, IL-18 and IgA in stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ group were higher than those in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ group, and the level of IL-10 was lower than that in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ group (all P < 0.05). The levels of IL-6, IL-18 and IgA in metastatic esophageal cancer group were higher than those in non-metastatic esophageal cancer group, and the level of IL-10 was lower than that in non-metastatic esophageal cancer group (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The levels of IL-6, IL-18 and IgA in patients with esophageal cancer, stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ and metastasis are significantly increased, while IL-10 is significantly decreased. These indexes may provide basis for the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of esophageal cancer.
