Abstract Objective To discuss the application effect of project management-oriented multidisciplinary practice activities in preventing fall down / fall in bed in hospitalized patients. Methods All hospitalized patients (76 690 cases) from January 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research objects. The inpatients (39 411 cases) from January to December 2019 were used as the experimental group to set up a “tumbler” project management team, list ten major improvement project practice activities, and implement project management; the inpatients (37 279 cases) from January to December 2018 were used as the control group, and routine fall prevention management was adopted to compare the clinical process indicators of fall down/fall in bed and the occurrence of falls between the two groups. Results The implementation rate of nurses’ publicity and education measures, the passing rate of fall warning signs, the implementation rate of patients’ self-prevention measures, the passing rate of nurse risk assessment, and the rate of meeting safety standards of environmental facilities in the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The incidence of falls in hospitalized patients, the incidence of injuries of grade two and above caused by falls in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Project management-oriented multi-disciplinary practical activities applied to inpatients to prevent falls / falls have shown good results.
