Abstract Objective To provide a wider perspective for the evaluation of chronic back pain (CBP) outcome from the point of view of patients’ values based on the theme of the outcome indicators framework, comprehensive research on the life experience and expectations of patients with chronic low back pain (CBP). Methods Electronic retrieval databases PubMed, EMbase, CINAHL, PsyclNFO, Web of Science, SinoMed, China national Rnowledge infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), WanFang Data, the time was from the establishment of the database until 2020 in March, after using the quality evaluation standards of the Australian JBI evidence-based health care center to evaluate the quality of the literature, the thematic comprehensive method was used to analyze the research results, while the results were classified according to the conceptual framework of the outcome indicators recommended by the COMET website. Results Based on the 23 included studies, 4 themes and 14 sub-themes were identified: physiological or clinical (musculoskeletal and connective tissue outcome, general outcome), life impact (physical function, social function, role function, emotional function, recognition function, overall quality of life, nursing provision), resource utilization (economic efficiency, need for further intervention, social/nursing staff burden), adverse events (drug side effects, surgical effectiveness and safety). Conclusion Chronic low back pain has a negative impact on the patient’s physical, psychological, and social levels. It is necessary to fully consider the patient’s true expectations in the field of outcome measurement and CBP management.
