Abstract Objective To systematically evaluate the safety and efficacy of diode laser transurethral enucleation of the prostate (DILEP) and transurethral plasma kinetic enucleation of the prostate (PKEP) in the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia. Methods Retrieved from Embase, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, China Biological Literature Database, CNKI, Wanfang, WIP and other databases from January 2000 to October 2020. Randomized controlled studies of the two surgical procedures were compared, and meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results A total of five articles were included in the study, and a meta-analysis showed that the two surgical methods were associated with decreased hemoglobin levels (P < 0.000 01), postoperative bladder irrigation time (P = 0.03), postoperative catheter indwelling time (P = 0.003), incidence of irritation symptoms (P = 0.003) and the international prostate symptom score at six months after surgery (P = 0.04) had statistically significant differences. Conclusion Compared with PKEK, DILEP have less intraoperative bleeding, shorter postoperative bladder irrigation time and catheter indwelling time, and lower incidence of irritation symptoms. In addition, DILEP is comparable to PKEP in terms of early efficacy and have an advantage in terms of symptom relief.
