Abstract Liver fibrosis is the only way for the occurrence of liver cirrhosis, which belongs to the early stage and is reversible. Therefore, how to effectively delay the sustained progress or even reverse is a key issue in the treatment of liver fibrosis at present. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the basic pathogenesis belongs to blood stasis blocking meridians, and promoting blood circulation to remove meridian obstruction is basic treatment method. Comprehensive studies at home and abroad have found that ligustrazine can inhibit hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activation by regulating a variety of cytokines, induce activated HSCs apoptosis, regulate adipocytokines, liver inflammation, anti-oxidant stress, regulate sinusoidal endothelial cells, autophagy and so on. It has a prospect in the treatment of liver fibrosis in the future.
