| Application of six-step behavioral cognitive intervention in clinical nursing of patients with chronic apical periodontitis |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of six-step behavioral cognitive intervention in the clinical nursing of patients with chronic apical periodontitis (CAP). Methods A total of 116 CAP patients admitted to the Department of Stomatology, Qionghai People’s Hospital from March 2018 to February 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into group A (58 cases [64 teeth], conventional intervention) and group B (58 cases [67 teeth], six-step behavioral cognitive intervention). The number of brushing times per day and the number of cleaning between teeth per week were compared between the two groups before and one month of intervention, and the oral health self-efficacy scale for self-care (SESS) was used to evaluate the self-efficacy of oral health care of the two groups at different times, while the depth of exploration (PD) and the attachment level (AL) of the two groups were measured, the digital pain score (NRS) was used to evaluate the pain level of the two groups before and one month after the intervention. Results The number of brushing times per day and the number of cleaning between teeth per week in the two groups of intervention for one month were higher than those before the intervention, while the indexes of group B were higher than those of group A, and the differences were all statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01). The SESS scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention for one month, and the SESS score of group B was higher than that of group A, and the differences were highly statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01). The PD and AL of the two groups of intervention for one month were lower than before the intervention, and the PD and AL of group B were lower than that of group A, and the differences were highly statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01). The NRS scores of the two groups were lower than before the intervention for one month, and the NRS scores of group B were lower than those of group A, and the differences were highly statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01). Conclusion CAP patients use six-step behavioral cognitive intervention, which is beneficial to improve the patients’ oral health care and improve the self-efficacy of oral health care. After the patients’ intervention, the periodontal parameters are reduced and the pain degree is reduced.
