Efficacy of Guli Capsules combined with Salmon Calcitonin Injection in treatment of senile osteoporosis and its effects on bone metabolic index |

Abstract Objective To explore the efficacy of Guli Capsules combined with Salmon Calcitonin Injection in treatment of senile osteoporosis and its effects on bone metabolic index. Methods A total of 80 cases of elderly patients with osteoporosis in Xinyi People’s Hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were selected, according to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and the observation group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Salmon Calcitonin Injection, while the observation group was treated with Guli Capsules combined with Salmon Calcitonin Injection, the two groups were treated for two months. Clinical curative effect was evaluated after treatment. The visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, Oswestry dability index (ODI) scores, serum osteocalcin (BGP), β-collagen carboxy-terminal peptide (β-CTX), 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25-(OH)D3], bone mineral density, bone mineral levels of the two groups before and after treatment were compared. The adverse reactions of the two groups during the treatment were recorded and compared. Results The total effective rate of observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the VAS, ODI scores and serum β-CTX of the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment (P < 0.05), the BGP, 25-(OH)D3, bone mineral density and bone mineral levels were significantly higher than before treatment (P < 0.05). After treatment, the VAS, ODI score and serum β-CTX level in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05), while the BGP, 25-(OH) D3 level, bone mineral density and bone mineral level in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). During treatment, there was no serious adverse reaction of the two groups. Conclusion Guli Capsules combined with Salmon Calcitonin Injection has a significant clinical effect in treatment of senile osteoporosis, which can significantly reduce the pain, improve the bone metabolic index and bone strength, and has a good safety.
