Abstract The cognitive process classification of the classification table in Bloom’s taxonomy of educational goals is arranged from bottom to top, then a virtual two-dimensional coordinate system is added to the classification table, and the table is divided into four quadrants, thus establishing the taxonomical model of clinical medical education goals. The lower cognitive process of clinical medical theoretical knowledge is based on the lower order thinking skills, starting from “memory/recollection” and transferring to “understanding” and “application”. The higher cognitive activities for “diagnosis, treatment and clinical practice” correspond to cognitive processes such as “analysis, evaluation and creation” based on higher-order thinking skills. The application of the established taxonomical model shows that it is helpful to guide the design of clinical teaching goals, teaching activities and evaluation.
