Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of integrated supportive psychotherapy on the psychological symptoms and healthy behaviors of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Methods From July 2017 to July 2019, 85 HIV/AIDS patients admitted to the Huai’an No 4 People’s Hospital were selected. According to the duration of hospitalization, they were divided into 43 cases in the treatment group(August 2018 to July 2019) and 42 cases in the control group (July 2017 to July 2018). The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the treatment group was given integrated supportive psychotherapy. After 6 months of follow-up, the mental state, healthy behavior, satisfaction and other indicators of the two groups were compared. Results The psychological symptoms scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before the intervention in the same group (P < 0.05). Obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal care sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobia, and paranoia scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the health behavior of the two groups was significantly higher than that before the intervention in the same group (P < 0.05). The treatment group’s antiviral treatment compliance, regular sex partners, and frequent and every use of condoms were significantly higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The satisfaction of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Integrated supportive psychotherapy can help improve the psychological state of HIV/AIDS patients, promote the development of healthy behaviors, and improve patient satisfaction.
