Effects of Cefaclor and Bromhexine Hydrochloride for Suspension in the treatment of chronic cough in children |

Abstract Objective To study the effects of Cefaclor and Bromhexine Hydrochloride for Suspension in the treatment of chronic cough in children. Methods Seventy-two children with chronic cough admitted to Department of Pediatrics in Heze Municipal Hospital from August 2017 to January 2019 were selected and divided into study group (Cefaclor and Bromhexine Hydrochloride for Suspension treatment) and control group (conventional treatment) according to random number table method, 36 cases in each group, with a course of 10 days. Therapeutic effects of two groups were compared. The daytime and night cough scores, sputum inflammatory factors (IL-4, hs-CRP and TNF-α), serum disease-related factors (ECP, EOS, SP and CGRP) were recorded before and after treatment. Results After ten days of treatment, there was no significant difference in the treatment effect between two groups (P > 0.05). After ten days of treatment, the daytime and night cough scores of two groups were lower than those before treatment, and study group was lower than that control group (P < 0.05). After ten days of treatment, sputum levels of IL-4, hs-CRP and TNF-α in two groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in study group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). After ten days of treatment, serum levels of ECP, EOS, SP and CGRP in two groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in study group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Cefaclor and Bromhexine Hydrochloride for Suspension has a significant efficacy in the treatment of chronic cough in children, and it can effectively alleviate cough symptoms and inflammatory response.
