Abstract Falls are the leading cause of injury and death among the elderly, seriously affecting their physical and mental health, quality of life and life expectancy, and hindering the process of healthy aging. As an important part of fall prevention, risk assessment is helpful for early identification of fall risk. The incidence of falls in the elderly can be effectively reduced by the intervention of risk factors. The purpose of this study is to summarize the fall assessment tools, clarify the indications and contents of the fall assessment for the elderly, and the applicable scope and effect of the assessment tools, so as to provide reference for medical staff to distinguish and choose the appropriate fall assessment tools, and provide ideas for the standardized assessment of falls and the improvement of the assessment process.
