Current status of core competency of elderly nursing staff in integrated treatment and convalesce institutions of Urumqi and its influence factors |

Abstract Objective To understand the current status of core competency of elderly nursing staff in integrated treatment and convalesce institutions of Urumqi and analyze the influencing factors. Methods From December 2019 to January 2020, the convenience sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey on elderly nursing staff in integrated treatment and convalesce institutions of Urumqi. The core competence questionnaire and general self-efficacy scale were used. Results Total score of core competency of elderly nursing staff in integrated treatment and convalesce institutions in Urumqi was (106.27±15.17) points. Personal quality, communication ability, ethics knowledge, nursing knowledge, nursing skills and core competence were positively correlated with self-efficacy (r = 0.282, 0.229, 0.257, 0.423, 0.260, 0.376, all P < 0.01). Working years, professional titles and whether they have participated in relevant pre job training have an impact on the core competence of nursing staff (P < 0.05). Conclusion The core competency of elderly nursing staff in integrated treatment and convalesce institutions is in the upper middle level. Managers should strengthen the training of nursing knowledge and skills, pay attention to improve the core competence of nursing staff with low professional title and working age, enhance self-efficacy and improve the core competence of nursing staff.
