Clinical observation of needle knife combined with manipulation and muscle strength training in the treatment of chronic sacroiliac joint dysfunction |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical effect of needle knife combined with manipulation and muscle strength training in the treatment of chronic sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Methods Sixty patients diagnosed with chronic sacroiliac joint dysfunction in the Department of Spine Orthopaedics, Wuxi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Province from January 2017 to December 2019 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method, with 30 patients in each group. The control group was treated with manipulation and muscle strength training, and the observation group was treated with needle knife therapy on this basis. Visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), ilium transverse diameter difference and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. Results Overall analysis showed that VAS, ODI and ilium transverse diameter differences were statistically significant among groups, time point comparison and interaction differences (all P < 0.05). Intra-group comparison: VAS, ODI and ilium transverse diametral differences between the two groups were all lower than those before treatment at 15 days and six weeks after treatment, and VAS and ODI at six weeks after treatment were lower those that at 15 days after treatment, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). Comparison between groups: After 15 days and six weeks of treatment, VAS, ODI and ilium transverse diametral differences in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). The excellent and good rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The therapeutic effect of needle knife combined with manipulation and muscle strength training on chronic sacroiliac joint dysfunction is effective. It can help to correct disorders, relieve pain, improve function and maintain stability.
