Application research of "flip classroom" teaching mode based on video micro-course in nursing teaching of spine surgery |

Abstract Objective To explore the application effect of "flip classroom" teaching mode based on video micro-course in nursing teaching of spine surgery. Methods According to the student ID of nursing students, 126 directed interns of Tianjin Medical College in Department of Spinal Surgery, the 309th Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army from June 2014 to June 2015 were divided into the control group and observation group randomly, with 63 interns in each group. The control group was taken traditional teaching methods for teaching management, while the observation group utilized "flip classroom" teaching mode based on video micro-course on the basis of traditional teaching methods. After 2 weeks of internship, the theory scores, clinical operation scores and adverse events rates of the two groups were compared. Results After 2 weeks of internship, more than 95% of the nursing students in the observation group were agreed with the "flip classroom" teaching mode based on the video micro-course. Besides, both of the theory and the clinical operation scores of the observation group were higher than those of control group, the rate of adverse events in the observation group was lower than that of the control group, the differences between the two groups were all statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion It is possible to increase the enthusiasm of nursing students to enter clinical practice and improve the clinical operation skills and the relationship between teachers and students by using the teaching method of "flip classroom" teaching mode based on video micro-course. Therefore, it is also possible to reduce the incidence rates of nursing disputes and improve the satisfaction of nursing students in clinical teaching.
