Abstract Cerebral pericytes are an important part of neurovascular units. In recent years, the focus of research on cerebral ischemia has gradually shifted from neurons to neurovascular units. Pericytes are located in the center of neurovascular units and have become the focus of new research fields in recent years. Pericerebral cells perform a variety of functions by integrating and processing the signals of neighboring cells, including regulating the blood-brain barrier, regulating cerebral blood flow, regulating immune inflammatory response, participating in angiogenesis, regulating stem cell activity and epigenetic regulation. By reviewing the relevant literature at home and abroad in recent years, this paper discusses the function and mechanism of pericytes in ischemic stroke, so as to provide reference for the study of the mechanism of ischemic stroke and provide ideas for the discovery of new therapeutic targets.
