Abstract Objective To explore the advantages of colleges and universities combine “1.5+1.5” mode in the training of higher vocational pediatric nursing professionals, so as to lay a foundation for training pediatric nursing professionals in higher vocational colleges to meet the development needs of modern pediatric nursing career, and to provide new ideas for the development of hospitals and related disciplines. Methods From March 2017 to August 2019, two classes of 2016 nursing (pediatric direction) major students of a higher vocational college were selected as the experimental group and the control group. The control group (45 students) adopted the traditional training mode, while the experimental group (44 students) adopted the colleges and universities combine “1.5+1.5” training mode. The core competence was evaluated by the Chinese version of the core competence scale for nursing students, and the scores of pediatric nursing, employment status and teaching satisfaction of the two groups of students were compared. Results The scores of moral and responsibility dimensions and general clinical skills dimensions of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, while the scores of critical thinking and reasoning ability of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The scores of pediatric nursing, employment and teaching satisfaction in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The colleges and universities combine “1.5+1.5” mode has significant advantages, which is conducive to the cultivation of a large number of high-quality, professional and competent pediatric nursing professionals for the society, and is worthy of promotion.
