The enlightenment of American higher education methods on medical education in China |

Abstract Ever since problem-based learning (PBL) has been introduced into medical higher education in China, it has had a significant role in improving the quality of teaching and comprehensive literacy of students. This article reviews current conditions in higher education in the United States, investigates the necessity of and issues with PBL teaching in China, and explores solutions in the implementation process. Through the enlightenment of American higher education methods on medical education in China, in order to solve the problem that the teaching method is not easy to be adapted and accepted by teachers and students in the specific practice process, and provide reference for domestic counterparts to carry out education and teaching. Arguably, the accumulation of experience, as well as the solution of important issues, will eventually improve teachers′ understanding of higher education teaching methods and principles, and support the education of talented, innovative medical students.
