Study on anti-drug resistant bacteria and antitumor activity of different parts of Tibetan medicine Artemisia vestita in vitro |

Abstract Objective To study on anti-drug resistant bacteria and antitumor activity of different parts from different parts of Tibetan medicine Artemisia vestita in vitro. Methods Stem and leaf of Artemisia vestita were extracted with absolute ethanol and ethyl acetate respectively. The antibacterial activity of different extracts on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was evaluated by K-B paper method, turbidimetric method and flat line marking method. The MTT method was used to detect the inhibition rate of different extracts on human hepatoma cell line HepG2 cells and human cervical cancer cell line HeLa cells. Results After incubation at 37°C for 18 h, the Artemisia vestita leaf absolute ethanol extract (100.00 mg/mL) had the strongest inhibitory effect (5.00 mm) on MRSA (1×107 cfu/mL), and the lowest inhibitory concentration (MIC) was 1.25 mg/mL, the minimum germicidal concentration (MBC) was 5 mg/mL. Highconcentration (500.00 μg/mL) Artemisia vestita leaf ethyl acetate extract showed the best inhibitory activity against human hepatoma cell line HepG2 cells and human cervical cancer cell line HeLa cells. Conclusion Artemisia vestita leaf ethanol extract has better anti-drug resistance to MRSA in vitro, while Artemisia vestita leaf ethyl acetate extract has better antitumor activity.
