Effects of Ginkgo Leaves Extract injection at Zúsānlǐ acupoint on arterial blood flow, hemorheology and angiogenesis index of lower extremity arteries in diabetic patients with peripheral vascular disease |

Abstract Objective To study the effect of Ginkgo Leaves Extract injection at Zúsānlǐ acupoint on angiogenesis index in patients with diabetic peripheral vascular disease (DPVD). Methods A total of 94 DPVD patients who admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine from March 2017 to February 2019 were selected and simple randomization grouping was performed, with 47 patients in each group. The control group received integrated Western medicine treatment, and the observation group was added with Zúsānlǐ acupoint injection of Ginkgo Leaves Extract for a total of 2 weeks. The curative effect, arterial blood flow index of lower extremity (fluctuation index [PI], ankle brachial index [ABI], mean blood flow velocity [Vmean], resistance index [RI]), hemorheology index (plasma viscosity [PV], high cut in whole blood viscosity [H-WBV], mid cut whole blood viscosity [M-WBV], low cut whole blood viscosity [L-WBV]), angiogenesis indicators (number of peripheral blood endothelial progenitor cells [EPCs], basic fibroblast growth factor [bFGF], vascular endothelial growth factor [VEGF], platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor [PD-ECGF]) levels and adverse reactions of the two groups after 2 weeks of treatment were compared. Results After 2 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, ABI and Vmean in the observation group were increased compared with those before treatment, and PI and RI were decreased compared with those before treatment, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). ABI was increased and RI was decreased in the control group after 2 weeks of treatment compared with those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). Vmean and PI were not statistically significant compared with those before treatment (P > 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, ABI and Vmean of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and PI and RI were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, PV, H-WBV, M-WBV and L-WBV of the two groups were all lower than those before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, EPCs, bFGF, VEGF and PD-ECGF in the two groups were all higher than those before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the observation group and the control group (P > 0.05). Conclusion The injection of Ginkgo Leaves Extract at Zúsānlǐ acupoint can improve the lower limb hemodynamics of DPVD patients, effectively relieve symptoms and signs of patients, improve the hypercoagulability state of patients, optimize microcirculation, and promote angiogenesis, which is safe and reliable.
