| Analysis of rational drug use based on the adverse reaction report of Chinese patent medicine |

Abstract Objective To analyze the occurrence of adverse drug reaction (ADR) induced by Chinese patent medicine in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital (North), Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine (for short "our hospital") from January 2014 to December 2016, in order to provide reference for rational clinical drug use. Methods All reports of ADR induced by Chinese patent medicine in our hospital were exported for statistical analysis by using tabulation, including age, gender, original disease, suspect drug, administration route, the reporter and the name of ADR. Results The ADR incidence of respiratory system as original disease was the highest, which make up 48.63% of 1360 reports. The incidence of ADR was the highest in children aged 2 to 11, accounting for 34.12%, followed by 61 to 71 years old, accounting for 14.90%. ADR involved organs with the highest response to skin and accessories, accounting for 40.27%, mainly with rash and pruritus, followed by the digestive system, accounting for 25.6%, mainly with stomach upset. Conclusion Attention should be paid to monitoring ADR induced by Chinese patent medicine. Rational and standardized use of traditional Chinese medicine is of greater importance to reduce the occurrence of ADR.
