Abstract Tissue fibrosis is a pathological process in which the necrosis of parenchymal cells is reduced and the fibrous connective tissue is increased, which can lead to the destruction of tissue and organ structure and loss of function, even threaten the health and life of human. Exosomes are tiny vesicles that can be secreted by almost all cells, carrying intracellular mRNA, protein and other substances, mediating intercellular communication and participating in various biological processes. In recent years, there have been more and more studies on the relationship between exosomes and fibrosis. This article mainly reviews from the perspective of exosomes regulating fibrosis, as biological markers for diagnosing fibrosis and therapeutic targets.
