| Current status of legislation administration of traditional Chinese acupuncture in various states in the United States |

Abstract This article collects the acupuncture management related documents of 47 states and 1 Special Zone in the United States that have legislation on acupuncture, and summarizes the conditions and requirements of acupuncture license applicants and the practice management of acupuncture practitioners in each state. It was found that the development of Chinese medicine and acupuncture is unbalance in each state in the United States, but the (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) certification was the mainstream trend of professional qualifications admission. The threshold of practicing medicine for Chinese medicine practitioners in the United States is increasing, but the status of acupuncturists has not been improved accordingly; the Chinese acupuncture legislation in various states helps the orderly development of Chinese medicine acupuncture in the United States, and can better serve the local people. However, the separate legislation of acupuncture from traditional Chinese medicine has also promoted the trend of acupuncture as an independent medicine, affecting the overall development of traditional Chinese medicine. Due to the special permission of western doctors for acupuncture, Chinese acupuncture has become more localized. It will face greater challenges for Chinese acupuncturists and Chinese medical services to enter the US market.
