| Treatment of optic nerve contusion with hormone combined with multiple drugs: a case report |

Abstract This article retrospectively analyzed a case of optic nerve contusion. The patient was hit on the head and face due to syncope, and was admitted to the Department of Emergency, Putuo Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for multiple injuries. Later, the patient was diagnosed as optic nerve contusion after detailed physical examination and auxiliary examination due to decreased vision and visual field defects. After treatment with high-dose hormone combined with multi-drug, the vision acuity and visual field improved significantly. In this case, the visual acuity decreased and the visual field defect occurred after the fall injury, which was diagnosed as optic nerve contusion after detailed physical examination and auxiliary examination. Optic nerve contusion is not common in clinic, and it is easy to be covered up by systemic disease and ignored. Timely and accurate diagnosis of the disease can greatly save the visual acuity and visual function of patients. Clinicians need to further improve their understanding of the disease in their daily work，conduct systematic ophthalmic physical examination and relevant auxiliary examinations, weigh the advantages and disadvantages of surgery or drugs, and try to improve the prognosis of optic nerve contusion.
