Systematic evaluation of the quality of clinical treatment guidelines for hypertension in children and adolescents |

Abstract Objective To systematically review the methodological quality guidelines on the hypertension guidelines in children and adolescents, to compare the recommendations and to provide a reference for clinical physicians and pharmacists. Methods CNKI, Wanfang Database, VIP, CBM, PubMed, Excerpta medica database (EMBASE) and relevant websites such as medlive.cn, guideline international network (GIN), American academy of pediatrics (AAP), national guideline clearinghouse (NGC), national institute for health and clinical excellence (NICE) were searched by computer ranged from inception to October 2018. The methodological quality of included guidelines were evaluated according to the appraisal of guidelines for research and evaluationⅡ (AGREEⅡ) instrument, and the differences between recommendations were compared. Results The three guidelines are from the European socienty of hypertension (ESH), American academy of pediatrics (AAP), Canadian hypertension education program (CHEP), respectively. In the six major areas of the AGREEⅡ system, only the “clearness” and “range and purpose” scores were high. The AAP and CHEP guidelines were level B, and the ESH guidelines was level C. The recommended treatment recommendations of the guidelines are basically the same. Conclusion The quality of the included guidelines needs to be further improved. In the future development of guidelines for hypertension in children and adolescents, rigor of development and applicability of the guidelines should be strengthened. It is better to use evidence-based evaluation to obtain high-quality guidelines, so as to provide the best evidence for clinical treatment of hypertension in children.
