Relation among mobile phone addiction, parental attachment, regulatory emotional self-efficacy of medical students |

Abstract Objective To explore the relationship between mobile phone addiction, parental attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy in medical students. Methods A total of 260 medical students from Nanjing Medical University from April to July 2019 were selected by convenient sampling method. General information questionnaire, the mobile phone addiction index (MPAI), the inventory of parent and peer attachment (IPPA) and emotion regulation self-efficacy scale (RES-C) were used for measurement. Results The score of mobile phone addiction of medical students was (46.66±12.18) points, among which 17.4% of medical students were mobile phone addiction. There was a statistically significant difference in mobile phone addiction scores among medical students with highly different anxiety states (P < 0.01). Correlation analysis showed that mobile phone addiction was positively correlated with mother-child alienation and father-child alienation (P < 0.01), and negatively correlated with regulatory emotional self-efficacy (P < 0.05). Regulatory emotional self-efficacy was positively correlated with mother-child attachment, mother-child trust, mother-child communication, father-son attachment, father-son trust, father-son communication (P < 0.01). Regulatory emotional self-efficacy was negatively correlated with mother-child alienation and father-child alienation (P < 0.01). Conclusion Mobile phone addiction is correlated with parent-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy in medical students.
