Effect of high flux hemodialysis combined with Haikun Shenxi Capsules on oxidative stress and microinflammation in patients with diabetic nephropathy |

Abstract bjective To investigate the effect of high-flux hemodialysis (HFHD) combined with Haikun Shenxi Capsules on oxidative stress and microinflammation in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods A total of 80 patients with diabetic nephropathy who underwent hemodialysis for more than 6 months from June 2016 to May 2019 in People′s Hospital of Yuxi City were enrolled. The patients were divided into the control group and the combination group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was only treated with HFHD, while the combination group was treated with HFHD combined with Haikun Shenxi Capsules. The difference of renal function index [blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), creatinine clearance (Ccr) and 24 h urine protein quantitation (UAER)], related inflammatory index [Serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and oxidative stress level [malondialdehyde (MDA), glycopeptide peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)] between the two groups were compared before and after treatment. The clinical effect of the two groups was compared after treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions was analyzed. Results Compared with before treatment, BUN, Scr, and UAER in the two groups after treatment were significantly decreased, Ccr was significantly increased, and serum IL-6, hs-CRP, TNF-α, and MDA levels were significantly decreased, GSH-Px and SOD levels were significantly increased (P < 0.05). The Ccr, GSH-Px and SOD indexes of the combination group were significantly higher than those of the control group, while the BUN, Scr, UAER, IL-6, hs-CRP, TNF-α and MDA levels were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The clinical effective rate in the combination group was significantly better than that of the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant adverse reaction in both groups. Conclusion The combination of HFHD and Haikun Shenxi Capsules can significantly improve the renal function, relieve inflammatory state and reduce oxidative stress in patients with diabetic nephropathy. The curative effect is better than single HFHD treatment, it is worth to recommended for clinical application.
