| Retroperitoneal schwannoma: a case report |

Abstract The clinical data of one case of retroperitoneal schwannoma in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Ｍedical College in 2017 was retrospectively analyzed to explore the diagnosis and treatment of retroperitoneal schwannoma. In this case report, the patient was admitted due to biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer and found para-inferior vena cava space occupying during CT review, but the patient had no specific clinical manifestations and the nature of the mass could not be determined before surgery. After complete preoperative preparation, laparoscopic surgical resection was performed for the patient, and postoperative pathology confirmed that the patient was a schwannoma. The patient had a good prognosis, and there was no recurrence of schwannoma during 1-year follow-up. Through the study of relevant literature, we believe that retroperitoneal schwannoma is a rare tumor, and such patients lack specific clinical manifestations and imaging features, so a definite diagnosis cannot be made before surgery. The diagnosis of this tumor depends on postoperative pathological examination. The best treatment is complete surgical resection, and the prognosis of patients after surgery is good. At present, the recurrence of retroperitoneal schwannoma is rarely reported.
