Abstract Some channels in the transient receptor potential superfamily are widely expressed in the lower urinary tract, such as TRPV1, TRPV4, TRPA1, TRPM4 and TRPM8 channels. These transient receptor potential channels participate in many physiological and pathological activities in the lower urinary tract. It is related to the pathogenesis of lower urinary tract dysfunction, bladder cancer and prostate cancer. For example, TRPV1 channel and overactivity of bladder, TRPV4, TRPA1 and TRPM4 channel with overactivity of detrusor, TRPM4 channel and TRPM8 channel with prostate cancer. Transient receptor potential channel can be used as a new target for clinical treatment of these diseases. For example, the TRPV1 channel agonist capsaicin has been used in the clinical treatment of overactive bladder, but this goal still needs to be achieved through follow-up studies.
