Expression and clinical significance of miR-29b and Tiam1 in colon cancer |

Abstract Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of microRNA-29b (miR-29b), T lymphoma invasion and metastasis inducing gene 1 (Tiam1) in colon cancer tissues. Methods The cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues of 81 patients with colon cancer treated in the Second People′s Hospital of Yibin from May 2016 to May 2018 were selected. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-29b and Tiaml in colon cancer tissues. The relationship between the expression of miR-29b and Tiaml and its relationship with the clinicopathological characteristics of the patient were analyzed. Results The expression of miR-29b in colon cancer tissue was significantly lower than that in paracancerous tissue (P < 0.05), and the expression level of Tiam1 in colon cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in paracancerous tissue (P < 0.05). The expression of miR-29b and Tiam1 was correlated with the degree of cell differentiation, tumor TNM stage and lymph node metastasis, while the expression of miR-29b was negatively correlated with the expression of Tiam1 in cancer tissues (r = -0.381, P < 0.05). Conclusion The expression of miR-29b is low expressed in colon cancer tissues, while the Tiam1 was high. The expression of miR-29b and Tiam1 is closely related to TNM stage, cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis. The interaction between them is involved in the occurrence, development and metastasis of colon cancer.
