Research progresses in resting-state functional magnetic resonance in primary insomnia |

Abstract The pathogenesis of insomnia is still unclear. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance (rs-fMRI) provides a powerful technical support for further exploring the changes of brain function in insomnia. In this paper, rs-fMRI studies on primary insomnia in recent years were reviewed and summarized. The results found that abnormal brain areas were mainly located in cognitive-emotional related brain areas such as insula, prefrontal lobe, temporal lobe and limbic system, and there were abnormal internal activities and connections of default network and prominence network. Insomnia is closely related to negative emotions and leads to cognitive impairment and hyperarousal.
