Abstract Cerebrovascular disease is one of the most common diseases in neurology department, and it is also the leading cause of death and disability. Cerebrovascular hemodynamic changes play an important role in the occurrence and development of cerebrovascular diseases. Cerebral autoregulation (CA) is the ability of cerebral arterioles to maintain the relative constancy of cerebral blood flow in accordance with brain′s metabolic needs, regardless of changes in blood pressure. In recent years, more and more studies have shown that CA is impaired in cerebrovascular disease to some extent, which in turn increases the risk of cerebrovascular recurrence. This article gives review of CA mechanism, the relationship between CA and cerebrovascular disease, CA and clinical application through literature review, aiming to provide new ideas and directions for the research and clinical application of CA in cerebrovascular diseases.
